| COMPUTERS There is DSL service here so your personal computer will work well. Although power occasionally goes off, it usually resumes after a short time. Computers are available for your use in the Library, Community Center and the Airman & Family Readiness Center. |

| CELL PHONES The phones here range in price from inexpensive disposable to high end. There are two carriers on the island, with a wide variety of contracts. You can purchase internet service, cell phone and cable at the Portuguese Terminal on base. Some US tri-band will work if they are unlocked. Contact one of the cell phone companies for more information. Want to call back home to the States really cheap? Get the hardware for IP-over-internet service (such as Vonage) with a local Stateside phone number before you arrive. It will work here, so when you call to, or receive calls from the States, charges--if any--will apply as if you were in the States. Skype* and other similar programs work very well too. Others swear by devices such as MajicJack. |
