Meet Your New Military & Family Life Counselor Jacqueline Gonzalez Rivera
Jacqueline Gonzalez Rivera, known as Jaki, is a Licensed Professional Counselor from New York, having graduated from the Bowie State University with a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology. She started her private practice with the simple goal to impact and empower the lives of those around her, but quickly realized that her true calling was to affect change on a global level.
The Virtual Counseling Process & How to Refer a Service Member or Family Member
The Magellan MFLC program uses Zoom video/audio conferencing (HIPAA compliant platform) to conduct non-medical counseling sessions. The MFLC will set up the counseling session via Zoom conferencing. The Service Member receives a Zoom invite via their email that will provide a link and instructions on joining the counseling session. When you refer an Airman to the MFLC, they will need to contact the MFLC directly by email.
What can one expect from non-medical counseling?
Your Military and Family Life Counselor can help with:
• Managing stress and changes due to COVID-19
• Adjusting to deployment and reintegration
• Managing problems at work
Briefs, presentations, and small group workshops
MFLCs augment existing military support services with an emphasis on early intervention through short term solution focused counseling and education. MFLCs focus on topics/issues such as:
• Building resiliency • Decision making-skills
• Communication • Deployment stress
I would like to give you the chance of experiencing the process of setting up a Zoom call and what it’s like to meet with me via Zoom. During this Zoom meeting we will take the opportunity to get acquainted, get your input on needs/issues, and share with you other services we can provide such as online groups and presentations.
