        Colonel Travis K. Leighton is the acting Deputy Director for the   Col Travis K. LeightonDeputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Environment, Safety,  and Occupational Health (ESOH). He assists in the management of  ESOH staff responsible for DoD’s policies and programs related  to  compliance with environmental laws; management of natural  and  cultural resources; cleanup of contaminated sites; safety  & occupational health; fire and emergency services;  installation emergency management; overseas environmental;  climate adaptation; emerging contaminants; and international  defense  environmental cooperation.

       Colonel  Leighton  commanded the  821st Support Squadron,  Thule AB, Greenland and the 90th Civil Engineer Squadron, F.E.  Warren AFB, Wyoming. He has also served in a variety of staff  positions including two Major Commands, Headquarters Air Force  and  the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Colonel Leighton’s  deployments include support to Exercise NEW HORIZONS,Operation  ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation  IRAQI FREEDOM.
